About this spread: A spread for contemplating a new project or self-development program. Its spiral shape is to remind us that we are never done growing and learning.
Introduction: Honestly I just wanted to try this spread out but at the same time I had not seen much fruitfulness from my partnership with Kristen and began to wonder why I was even bothering with her anyways. Also, I had become increasingly worried about our financial status, especially after Tina decided to use a portion of grocery money to buy her mom a birthday present. I was so utterly and completely disappointed in her for doing that and as an added ‘benefit’ I had the honor of paying for the groceries we missed through out the week as well as the fee for using the laundromat on the weekend because Tina was out of money until her next pay check, so needless to say I was seriously pissed off at how irresponsible she had been.
This is where you are right now in terms of this upcoming project. it can represent a problem you’re having, your attitude about the project, or your hopes for the outcome of the project. The Two of Pentacles represents multi-tasking and nimble movement. This cards says you have a lot to deal with but you do it with ease and grace. This card reminds us to be flexible and adaptable, to take life’s ups and downs as they come, to go with the flow. It is very common in life to; like a juggler, keep more than one ball in the air. Though we may drop one from time to time… if we keep at it and keep a smile on our face while doing it, we will become wiser and stronger and ready to take on even more. Alternatively, it may be the case that someone is doing a lot of busywork in order to ignore overwhelming emotions or to feel like they have control over an uncontrollable situation. This card may also be telling you to “follow the money”. You may need to travel or even move house in order to take advantage of material opportunities.
This is the next step you will take in this project. It is the beginning of the changes to come. Fives are all about conflict. Possibly negative such as petty hassles, arguments and clashing of personalities. It could also represent friendly or healthy competition like a game or contest. With team work and relationships, difference of opinions are unavoidable. Learn to treasure those differences because it is from them that new ideas and interesting compromises emerge. Be wary of stubbornly holding onto an idea for the sake of it. Empowerment is to be had by joining energies rather than fighting them. Do not lose sight of whose team you are on in the first place. If this card indicates to you petty hassles and disagreements it is best to endeavor to not make them into bigger problems than they are.
This is what you already know about this project and yourself in terms of the development you are undergoing now. The Eight of Swords is a card about feeling trapped or limited. When this card shows up people tend to feel as if they no longer have any options available. They may feel weakened by the circumstances in their lives or by others’ opinions of themselves. It is quite likely that the limitations they are feeling are self-imposed. They are imprisoned by their own thinking more than anything. How one uses their mind is their choice; thoughts can be used to keep you trapped or to cut through the limitations. Ask yourself what you get out of remaining “stuck” and what you could gain if you were to move forward. Often, all that is needed to transcend the limitations is the courage to view it in a new light.
This is what the project will require you to let go of. It could be a belief or attitude, a behavior or unhealthy relationship. The Nine of Wands is a card about wisdom and strength that is gained through experience. Clearly the man in the card has seen his share of battles but he is not backing down because with each new foe he learns something about his enemy. When this card shows up you should think back to a time when you have been in a similar experience. What did you learn then and what can you apply now? This card serves as a warning You may think you know what to expect or that you have all of your defenses up but there is always the possibility that things will end up differently than we thought. Be weary of self-fulfilling prophecy. When we can expect the worse we may get it so be prepared for the worse. You got where you are through your own choices, there are no victims in this card. The man chooses to stand his ground. If you are not satisfied with your current situation, you can change that too.
This is what you will learn about yourself and the world during the project. The Empress inverted can represent overabundance. You could be stifled with clutter or feeling heavy after indulging in rich foods and drink. This is the card that warns us of “too much of a good thing can be a bad thing”. This card is also known to show up when a person is trying to do too much to care for other people. The best helping and caring is done when we rest and nourish ourselves. In whatever ways you are helping others be sure to enjoy the process and not just the end result. Finally, this card can indicate trouble with your mother or a mother type figure as well as embodying femininity or a mother role. If this is the case then you should explore what femininity and nurturing means to you.
This is where you will find yourself when the project wraps up or you get to the next stage. Not only is it an ending, but it is also a new beginning. when the Nine of Swords appears it is time to take note of fears and anxieties and then deal with them directly. This card shows up when you are ignoring your inner voice telling you there is something to worry about. You act like everything is fine but deep inside you have doubts you are not addressing. This card also appears when your fears and nightmares have begun to disrupt your life. If in a past type of position it could indicate that those fears have been dealt with. either through writing or talking about them with another person. It will be therapeutic to analyze those doubts and learn more about yourself so you may continue to grow.

Reflections: Again with the Two of pentacles? Yes I am still performing my juggling act with the many hats that I wear on a daily basis. It is not a problem for me and it describes my current state perfectly, I guess I was just expecting some insight that I have been blind to or something along those lines but whatever. For my next step it would appear that I have to combine opposing energies for some healthy competition. I have recently come to the realization that these fears I have been dealing with are self-imposed and the Eight of Swords in the Know position confirms it. Not only have I been more honest with myself, but with Tina and my clients as well. Tina was understanding of my fears and guilt and my clients could care less because it had not really affected their plans one way or the other. As it turns out I was just scaring myself and creating things to be guilty for that really did not exist in the first place. Now that I have come to terms with my delusions I now need to learn to let go of convictions that are no longer serving me. The Nine of Wands tells me that I have learned and gained much from my experiences and now it is time to decide if I will use it for greater change or stand my ground? Seeing as how I long for drastic change, the choice seems obvious but it is far easier said than done. I believe that what I will walk away with is the knowledge that I can not support, protect and nurture all things, ideas and people at the same time. I may be a spiritual being but for now I have to work within the limitations of the human experience and a physical reality. It is not possible for me to do and be all things at the same time. When the final revolution of this spiral is spent I will have awoken from this nightmare I have created in my own head. To be honest, I think I have already started to wake up. I give my thanks to the universe, for its guidance, insight and protection. Blessed be.
