Revolution

Otep’s new album Generation Doom came out recently and I have been listening to it non-stop. Here is a somewhat inspired piece from one of my favorite songs on the new album; Equal Rights – Equal Lefts. I wanted to depict a Otep-esque heroine with her back against the wall, and although the cause is being slowly stripped away behind her, the fight rages on. As it turns out, “Equal Rights – Equal Lefts” is an internet meme, used to justify men abusing women. Here she turns it on it’s head and says basically “what goes around comes around”, in all ways possible. When a man cheats on his significant other; the other person gets to cheat. When a man strikes a woman; she gets to hit him back. When religion pushes and issue; the non-religious get to push back. When the government takes from the people; the people get to take from the government, and so on.

“I am a pariah to every religion, it isn’t a choice but it is a decision. Come out of the closet, break out of the prison. Love who you are, let no one inhibit. Don’t get in your way, or make a mistake, of living in fear, for the rest of your days.”“Equal Rights – Equal Lefts” lyrics

For this one I broke out of my safe box and went with Genesis 3 Female. Mainly because the content I wanted to use was tailored for her. Which includes Chace Hair, Dystopian Girl outfit, gloves from Derby Girl outfit, and the sunglasses from the Timeless outfit for Victoria 7. She is using the tattooed version of Ruby for Girl 7. I don’t really remember how I made the background. I believe it was an omni-plane rendered twice, both with two different industrial wall shaders applied, that was then combined and blended in Photoshop.
