Introduction: I do not remember if I had any pressing reason why I needed to seek out cosmic guidance this time around. If anything, I believe I was just trying to get an overall sense of the situation and was wondering where the energies are heading and if there was any advice to be on the look out for. See, at the moment I had been talking and working with Kristen from the employment firm. There was this company that I had a little bit of experience with and was interested in possibly going further with them. However, in order to be considered I would have to show them that I knew the type of projects and content that they have been working with. Truth is that I do, but I have no projects that can prove it. So to show Kristen how interested in and dedicated to the position, I took it upon myself to ‘create’ projects for myself that showcased those skills that they were looking for. That being the case I was concerned that I was putting my energy into something that was not going to pay off because I could see it taking me a couple of weeks to complete… ah… that was why I consulted with the universe and seeing as how it is a complicated situation with many possibilities what better card spread is there for such an occasion?
This is how you see yourself in the present situation. When the Hierophant appears in your reading, it is time to examine your beliefs. You may have an opportunity to teach someone something about life.. Will your teachings be flexible, so your student can integrate them into their own life, or are your beliefs rigid and dogmatic? Also, who or what has taught you? Did the lessons you learned serve you well or is it time to find a new mentor? Are you making a decision based on what you believe or are you tuned into your higher calling?
This is the challenge you are now faced with. The King of Pentacles is a successful and ambitious man. They are practical and careful business people who manage their own resources. They are wealthy and careful with their money but do not mind spending it on life’s luxuries. They are sensual people who treasure comfort. They are generous but always consider what is in it for them. After all, they did not get to where they are by giving it all away. They make thoughtful and considerate lovers, spouses and parents. The King of Pentacles is a family person. They are calm and patient but are made upset by erratic behavior from their loved ones.
This is the foundation of the current situation. It is what motivates you. The Two of Pentacles represents multi-tasking and nimble movement. This cards says you have a lot to deal with but you do it with ease and grace. This card reminds us to be flexible and adaptable, to take life’s ups and downs as they come, to go with the flow. It is very common in life to; like a juggler, keep more than one ball in the air. Though we may drop one from time to time… if we keep at it and keep a smile on our face while doing it, we will become wiser and stronger and ready to take on even more. Alternatively, it may be the case that someone is doing a lot of busywork in order to ignore overwhelming emotions or to feel like they have control over an uncontrollable situation. This card may also be telling you to “follow the money”. You may need to travel or even move house in order to take advantage of material opportunities.
This is an experience or lesson from the past that is affecting you now. The Star is a sign of hope, peace and renewal. It brings optimism for a fresh start. Have trust in the constantly changing nature of the Universe. It is always darkest before the dawn. You are on a healing path. Be sure to nurture both your physical and spiritual aspects of your life. Do what is practical and required, while visualizing an ideal future. Calmness and stillness may be required to heal completely. In creative ventures the Star can be a sign of success. It can also indicate astrology and other divine arts. When this card appears you should listen to the cosmos.
This is what you already know to be true. It may represent your beliefs about the present situation or your aspirations at this time. When the Strength card appears in a reading it is time to call upon your inner power. You may have pushed aside your wild, animalistic desires and impulses for the sake of logic and spirituality. Strength urges us to work with that wild part of ourselves. To find a basic balance between our basic drives and higher aspirations. You may be surprised to find that getting into your body, be it through exercise, feasting or sex actually opens up new spiritual doorways for you and increase your personal power. If there is conflict in your situation, then Strength may be advising you to face your adversary with love and compassion. Don’t worry; you are not giving up, you are only taming the beast.
This will come into your life soon and change the current situation. It may be a person, opportunity, experience, new perspective, or a challenge. When you see this card it means someone is not making a decision right now. You may be feeling ambivalent or uncertain. You may not want to hurt or offend someone who is involved. It could require a period of withdrawal so you can contemplate your options. The swords tell us to be rational and logical in our decision making. Think with your head and not your heart. Could also mean you or someone you know is ignoring their emotions and using logic to deny their feelings. They could be denying the truth or separating some aspect of their life in order to not have to deal with it. While ignorance may be bliss, it can also cause a person to remain stuck in a circular train of thought or emotional pattern.
This is what is important to you now. The Wheel of Fortune reminds us that change is inevitable. Regardless of how things are now, they will most definitely not stay that way forever. We may not always have control over what life sets in our paths, but we can decide how to respond. Try not to get too attached to any one way of being. Do not try to control everything, you can’t. The Wheel advises you to stay calm and center yourself so that you can make good decisions when your world gets turned upside down and spins out of control. When down on your luck, the Wheel is a sign that your luck is about to turn for the better.
This is the circumstances that surround you. It can include others’ perspective of your situation as well as external resources that are available to you. The Four of Pentacles is known as the miser card. This card tells us matters of security and control are very important. You have reached a place where you feel secure with your resources but you don’t want to chance anything. You are holding on tightly to what you have and are refusing to relinquish your position for fear of loosing control. While this may make sense and be ‘safe’, at the same time you are blocking change by not allowing new things into your life. You may be penny pinching, imposing rules, insisting upon a tried and true routine. Problem is that change is necessary for development. When you let loose and go with the flow, you are inviting change and opportunity. You have a firm foundation. It is your choice to stay where you are or to continue building upon it.
This will guide you through the present situation. It may be something for you to focus on, or a fear you have to deal with. It can also be seen as advice from your higher self. The Knight of Wands is an energetic, charismatic and confident person. They have a short attention span and do not stay in one place, with one project or one person for long. They require a lot of stimulation and often value adventure over common sense. They seek self growth and are always looking for new challenges. They can be competitive, reckless and temperamental.
This is the direction the energies are currently moving towards. It may represent a future situation or a lesson you will learn over the coming weeks or months. The Queen of Swords is a very independent person. Utilizing their great clarity of thought, they pursue their desires with strength and maturity. They treasure solitude and are able to overcome loneliness by pursuing independent projects. They have a very sharp mind and a keen sense of justice and fairness. They have great self awareness, but may be overly critical of their own thoughts. They would benefit from developing greater compassion for themselves. They may have experienced great loss or sorrow in their life and it has enhanced their wisdom. Rational thought may be at the cost of emotional insight. They can be cutting with their words and often need to be reminded of other peoples feeling when speaking truthfully. It IS possible to be both honest and kind. It can also be a signal to seek out professional council.

Reflections: I immediately identified with the Hierophant; as soon as it turned over I knew it was me. I have been putting a lot of energy into spiritual pursuits and lessons from various people but most of all the results I have been experiencing drove me to continue them and take them even further. To answer the cards question… Yes, I believe they are serving me well. The King of Pents resonates with me in the sense that this is what I want and I am struggling to integrate the mundane physical and material needs with my spiritual pursuits. The Two of Pents appears to be saying that I am doing a good job of balancing the two whether I am unable to see it or not. I was surprised to see The Star in my recent past position. Meaning I may have accomplished the healing I set out to do a while ago even if I think I am not finished the cards are telling me that I am finished and that it was successful. Strength is telling me that I am much stronger than I give myself credit for. The fact that it is in my crown position goes to show that this is what I know to be true even on a higher level. My recent experiences with dieting, exercise and self discipline are testaments to that fact. With the Two of Swords what lies before me now is to make a decision… I am feeling rather uncertain at the moment because I see ample opportunity to make money but it feels as if it is below me at this point. However, the swords are all about being rational and thinking with your head and not your heart. Maybe it is not time for me to find my higher calling yet? I am trying to hear my heart song and find my higher purpose and at the same time I long for change and lament having to code one more stinkin’ webpage. I am quite fond of back end or content maintenance, but that is about all that I am willing to work on right now. The Wheel tells me that change is coming so I should be calm and patient. The Four of Pents in the environment position, confirms my suspicions that people who do not hear my thoughts or experience the feelings I have are likely to view my behavior as being selfish and absent minded with my money or responsibilities. So what can I do about it? The Knight of Wands is not likely to be any person I already know so it is telling me I need to divide my attention among multiple projects. This may sound contradictory to what I am seeking but it makes plenty of sense to me as it is what I excel at. I am able to divide my attention, time and discipline amongst multiple tasks at once. I learned how to do it in order to survive college and the fact that I lack multiple projects lately is probably what has been dragging me down. For the outcome the Queen of Swords is an almost obvious reference to Kristen, so to me it says our partnership in the job hunt is not over just yet even though I have all but given up on that line of work. For now I will keep busy with my blog, spirituality, creativity, client work, job hunt, project finding and video games. See this method works well for me because it forces me to come up with a schedule and timeline I do not have to worry about completing as many things as possible, just one thing from each category or so every day. I tell you there is nothing more satisfying than crossing something off my list once it is done. The only difference is that although my list is much longer and step by step they are far more manageable tasks and I cross multiple items off everyday. Doing it that way provides such a confidence boost for me, multiple times a day, multiple days a week and then I can relax and do my thing for me on the weekends knowing that I have earned it by looking back on the list and seeing so many items crossed off!
